NEC Launches LSI Chipsets Supporting Both Blue-Laser Formats

NEC recently announced that it has unveiled the LSI (Large Scale Integration) chipsets, which are compatible with both HD DVD and blu-ray formats, with a price tag of 10,000 Yen (US$84.6; US$1=118.3 Yen). The new chipsets are expected to begin mass production between Jan and March in 2007, with a monthly capacity expected to reach approximately 300,000 units by the end of 2007.
